Fibromuscular dysplasia of cerebral arteries with multiple aneurysms

The authors describe the observation of a multifocal fibromuscular dysplasia in a 21-gear-old man manifested in childhood by renovascular hypertension and at the age of 21 years by attacks of subarachnoidal haemorrhage. On angiography dysplastic stenoses on the cerebral arteries were revealed and three aneurysms were detected: choroldocarotid, intracavernous carotid and bifurcation basilar. The choroidocarotid aneurysm was treated by surgery by means of clamps, the remaining two aneurysms were obliterated by endovascular interventions, The authors analyst the rare incidence of fibromuscular dysplasia of the a, basilaris and discuss the problem of diagnosis and treatment of fibromuscular dysplasia and multiple intracranial aneurysms.
