摘要
a Social media is a platform that is used to communicate with others. Nowadays, social media is also used to support collaboration in the learning process. A higher education institution as a place to educate student is already begin to implement social media as a medium of learning. Due to the current situation social media have many forms with different functions and different uses. The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of social media to support learning process in higher education institution based on several variables, such as Individual Characteristics, Educational Institutions, Family, Awareness Students, Resources, and the Internet. Moreover in this study we try to examine the features from nine Social Medias (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr, SlideShare, Blogs and Wikis) that most popular in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative method that involves several samples of respondents from student in higher education. The results of this study are variables that have a significant impact to a successful learning process for higher education institution and some features of social media that can be used as a complimentary for the learning process.
