摘要
This paper presents a simple terahertz (THz) on-chip antenna (OCA) based on the concepts of Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) and Metamaterials (MTM) resonating at a dual frequency of 628 GHz and 759 GHz. The antenna is designed with a planar structure consisting of a three-layer, copper-polyimide-copper. A 100-mu m polyimide substrate is used in between the two copper plates along with a series of vias on the edges connecting the top and bottom layer. In addition to that, the top layer is etched with six rectangular patches on which further linear micro-slots are etched to achieve MTM properties. A microstrip to SIW transition feedline is used as excitation. Simulation is performed in Ansys High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), where the S-parameter, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), gain, and radiation pattern are analyzed. The dimension of the antenna is 1160 x 360 x 100.8 mu m(3) which provides a bandwidth of 18 GHz and 20 GHz with a maximum gain of 4.2 dBi and 4.9 dBi, respectively. The dual resonating nature of the proposed OCA makes it promising for emerging short-range wireless communications.
