摘要
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an injury that results in physical, cognitive and psychosocial dysfunctions. Depression, behavioral and emotional changes are usually present as well as other typical symptoms such as headache, loss of consciousness, nausea, motor and cognitive impairments. Physical and mental conditions including learning, the ability to understand and communicate, movement skills and maintaining daily activities, self-care and social behaviors are usually affected in these patients. These symptoms may vary in accordance with the severity of the injury or due to personal changes. Our case was reported to have a good functionality before the accident, and showed personality changes and impairment in intellectual functions, therefore depression with neurocognitive impairment due to traumatic brain injury seemed to be the most possible diagnosis. In this study, we aimed to present a case of traumatic brain injury with concurrent depression and improvements in patient's functionality after successful diagnosis and treatment processes.
