摘要
This paper deals with a trial of gear grinding using a threaded vitrified-bonded CBN wheel. Compared with an electroplated CBN wheel, a vitrified-bonded CBN wheel is more suitable for obtaining high-accuracy gears because it permits the profile to correct and refine the cutting edges without removing the wheel from the spindle head using an on-machine type truing device. Then the authors designed such a truing device and carried out grinding experiments. A metal-bonded V-shaped diamond wheel was used for a truing cutter, and a dressing process using gear-shaped GC wheel after truing was proposed by the authors. This dressing process has an effect to reduce the grinding force without impairing gear accuracy. The grinding results showed small profile errors and pitch errors in case of grinding speed at 7000 min(-1) with double-threaded wheel whose diameter was 200 mm, and it was confirmed that we can use a threaded vitrified-bonded CBN wheel for gear grinding practically.
