Enhanced mobility scheme to reduce location traffic using Multicasting HLR in PCS network

摘要
this paper, we propose an effective location management scheme called Multicasting Home Location Register (MHLR) which exploits receiver side call locality. When a call is established, MH records the caller's Visitor Location Register (VLR) ID according to tile callee. Periodically, MHLR ranks the VLRs and determine which VLRs frequently make calls to the callee. During a location registration process, MHLR sends the terminal's location information to the determined VLRs and it can eliminate HLR queries from the call tracking. Tile simulation model is based on tile Jackson's Network model, and makes it possible to estimate mobility management cost of PCS network. Interim Standard (IS-41) scheme and proposed scheme are compared based on the computer simulation. The proposed modeling method shows the improved result.
