摘要
The present investigation consists of correlating the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of binary systems using the Laguerre polynomial series. The procedure consisted of collecting experimental T-xy data at constant pressure from the literature and then obtaining the coefficients of the Laguerre polynomial series that fit the T-x curve. From this, the azeofropic point of the binary mixture is found if it is present. Next, an excess Gibbs energy model is fitted using the Laguerre polynomial series to calculate the activity coefficients, the thermodynamic consistency. The computational tool used is Excel's Solver. The results indicate that Laguerre's polynomial series successfully adjusts the Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium data of binary systems.
