EVALUATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SHEAR PROPERTY AND TEAR ABILITY IN THE PLANE OF WOVEN FABRICS (SHORT STAPLE)

摘要
This study evaluated the relationship between shear property and tear behavior, in the plane of woven fabrics. In this respect, shearing property was investigated using tensile testing in the bias direction and tearing, through the tongue(single hp)tear test, for 12 plain weave, polyester-cotton woven fabrics; tear test was done in two principle directions and shear in 45 degree to warp direction(same as weft direction); the results were analyzed using SPSS. Data analysis showed that the correlation between strength in bias direction and tearing was significant In conclusion, the distribution of shear forces in the plane of fabrics affects the tearing capability; as the shear ability increases, tear strength decreases.
