Ultrasonic studies of (TeO2)(1-x)-(V2O5)(x) glasses

Longitudinal and shear ultrasonic velocities were measured in different compositions of the glass system (TeO2)(1-x)-(V2O5)(x) at room temperature and at 4 MHz frequency. The velocity data, the calculated elastic moduli, and Debye temperature have been used to obtain quantitative details about the structure of these glasses. Bulk modulus has been calculated using the ring deformation model according to the cation-anion bond of each oxide present in the glass. Moreover, network bond per unit volume was calculated to obtain more information about the structure of these glasses. Composition dependence of ultrasonic velocities, calculated elastic moduli, Debye temperature, Poisson's ratio, and oxygen ion molar volume showed that the change in the structure of tellurite vanadate glasses occurs at 20 mol% V2O5 content.
