摘要
The present analysis on the cost of production for seed as well as grain production of mustard was worked out on per acre basis separately during Rabi 2016-17. The survey for grain production was conducted on 320 farmers of major mustard growing districts of Haryana viz., Hisar, Bhiwani, Sirsa, Jind, Rohtak, Mahendergarh, Jhajjar and Rewari. For estimation of the economics of seed production, the survey was conducted on 125 registered seed growers of various public and private seed producing organizations of the state. It was found that total cost of seed production was (sic)24010 which was estimated to be 8.73 per cent higher than grain production, whereas, gross return from the seed production was (sic)33266 which was 20.3 per cent higher compared to grain production. Net return estimated from seed production of mustard was (sic)9256 while in case of grain production was (sic)4601 per acre. The benefit-cost ratio for seed production was1: 1.39 while it was 1:1.20 in crop production. Therefore, it was concluded that seed production was more beneficial as compared to crop production for the farmers to enhance their income by adopting the seed production instead of their traditional grain production of the same crop.
