A new edition of a soil map of Russia has been prepared using the FAO system on a scale of 1:5 million. This article gives the map's complete legend, which included changes and additions adopted by FAO-UNESCO in 1990. The soil base maps used were the Soil Map of the RSFSR, scale 1:2.5 million (1988) and the State Soil Map of the USSR, scale 1:1 million (1989).
