摘要
The various reasons for the housing of sheep and research on types of sheep housing vs. production performance are discussed first. The main conclusion is that sheep sheds need no insulation. Different functions are discussed in more detail: manure storage and handling, types of flooring, feeding and watering systems, space requirements and group sizes, ventilation and lighting, lambing season requirements, and auxiliary needs and rooms. Systems are discussed and an example for design is given both for humid, cool climate, and for cold, dry climate. Lastly, the economy is mentioned briefly. References are given throughout the chapter. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
