摘要
Algae are preferred feedstock because of their rich carbon content that can be used in biofuels, bioplastics, and health supplements. The cost effective, renewable, and sustainable algae or algal extracts are promising for the production of value-added biocomposite materials that possess antimicrobial, anticancer, therapeutic, and healing properties. This article mainly reviews macro-and micro-algae doping or immobilization on the electrospun nanofibers, highlighting research and development related to algae-based nanofibers. Recent representative examples are provided of algae species, carrier polymers, electrospinning conditions, and application areas. Conversely, the applications of anti-fouling strategies of electrospun fibers with biocide activity in an aquatic environment are also discussed.
