摘要
Aims: To examine the potential risk factors for in-hospital and 1-year mortality in elderly patients with hip fracture. Methods: Included were elderly patients aged 65 years and older admitted to the orthopedic department with hip fractures. Clinical and laboratory data were obtained from electronic medical records. Results: Among the significant risk factors for in-hospital and or 1-year mortality were male gender, age, higher Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), chronic renal failure (CRF) and cholesterol lower level. In a number of risk factors, there were gender differences, e.g., the survival of females and not of men treated with statins was significantly higher than for those not treated with the drug. Conclusion: It is important to make efforts to identify risk factors for mortality after hip fracture to be able to devise course of action to reduce mortality rate after hip fracture.
