摘要
This article provides a concise and up-to-date survey of major recovery (protection and restoration) techniques for High Speed (Gb/s) Next Generation Networks. The survey includes an overview of both existing and newly proposed methodologies. Core ideas underlying the Disjoint Paths, Protection Rings, Protection Cycles, p-cycles, Redundant Trees, Resilient Routing Layers and IP Fast Reroute technologies are presented. A comparison of strengths and weaknesses, between different recovery procedures is provided. Applications of these recovery procedures to IP based networks are also addressed.
