摘要
This paper argues for the importance of evidence synthesis in health information system (HIS) adoption field and emphasizes the challenges identified by the authors in the process of attempting a systematic review. As an emerging field, HIS adoption research demonstrates a high level of heterogeneity in both conceptual and methodological approaches to research. As a result, traditional methods of evidence synthesis such as systematic review becomes problematic. Instead, the authors opted to conduct a scoping review to map existing evidence and to identify problems/gaps in research. This paper details the decision making process and offers practical solutions for the researchers in HIS adoption field with the view of improving the quality of evidence and further advancing the field of research.
