A semi-analytical solution technique is presented for solving Laplace's equation to obtain potential and current density distributions in electrochemical cells. The potential distribution inside a rectangle with constant potentials along the walls is presented to illustrate the method. It is shown that the method yields analytical equations for the potential and the potential gradient along the lines. The procedure is also applied to more realistic problems encountered in electrochemical engineering. Two examples (curvilinear Hull cell and parallel plate electrodes) are presented.
