摘要
We report a novel class of preorganized macrocyclic compounds with a variety of shapes having diverse stackabilization properties. Macrocycle 3a resembles a calix[4]arene, while 3b and 3c adopt a sofa and lounger type conformation, respectively. X-ray crystallographic studies revealed that these macrocycles self-assemble solely utilizing non-conventional hydrogen bonding (C-H center dot center dot center dot O, CH center dot center dot center dot pi) and pi-pi interactions. Analysis of water-bound structure of 3a by crystallographic and theoretical studies reveals that 3a has versatile binding features similar to calix[4]arene. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
