Proper ferroelastic phase transitions of hexagonal crystals

摘要
Three dimensional slowness surfaces are used to study ferroelastic phase transitions of hexagonal crystals. The most prominent softening direction and the soft mode have been determined by the maximum slowness. For hexagonal crystals, the components of the elastic stiffness coefficients c(44) or c(66) has direct relationship with ferroelastic phase transitions. The spontaneous strains are calculated by using the elastic constitutive relation. The symmetry of ferroelastic phases are determined by using the Curie principle.
