摘要
Nestorianism began in the Eastern Church during the fourth century. It claimed that Jesus Christ was God as well as a man and that the divine and human natures were not related hypostatically, that is, united in one person. Hence the error about two Jesuses appeared. Therefore Nestorian theology said that Mary is only human mother of Jesus the man. Later, the term was changed to Chrtistotokos - Mother of Christ. This Nestorian teaching once caused great concern not only in the East but also in Rome. Even two general meetings of the church wee devoted to this wrong Mariology and Christology. Famous writers and theologians of the Church opposed Nestorians doctrine. Today nestorianism is not acceptable with its doctrine in the Christian community, but it is called to ecumenical dialogue with the Catholic Church.
