A method to calculate nuclear potentials by lattice QCD is reviewed. It utilizes the asymptotic long distances behavior of Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter (NBS) wave functions, which contain the information of scattering phase of QCD. Nuclear potential is defined as an energy-independent interaction kernel, so that the Schrodinger equation can reproduce NBS wave functions below the inelastic threshold. The resulting potential becomes faithful to the scattering phase because of the asymptotic behavior of the NBS wave functions. After the derivative expansion, the method is applied to the central and the tensor potentials. Their energy-independence is examined.
