Operational Reliability Assessment of Systems Containing Electronic Elements

This paper analyzes the operational reliability assessment of systems containing electronic element supplied in medicine. The analysis is based on the probability modeling through a Markov process. The identification of the system states is conducted from the system workability point of view. The possibilities for transitions from one system state to another are also analyzed. The analysis performed is illustrated by a case study of operational reliability indices estimation in regard to a type of semi-automatic blood pressure monitor. The basis of the case study are statistical data obtained regarding operational events occurred during the system operation. As a result of the analysis and the case study some prescriptions are suggested to be considered for to increase the operational system reliability.
