Hematological parameters of rattus norvegicus gotten through automatized and not automatized method

It was carried out on 12 Wistar rats, Rattus norvegicus to var. albinus, weighing 170 +/- 20 mg, the counting of the hematological variables, for diagnostic enquiry. It was used a hematology analyzer Sysmex XT-1800i (Roche (R)) for the automatized determination and for the non automatized methodology, the Neubauer chamber for the counting of erythrocytes and leukocyte using a dilution in a Thomas pipette. The determination of the hematocrit was achieved using a microhematocrit centrifugal machine, the hemoglobin concentration was determined by the cianometahemoglobin method and the determination of the absolute hematimetric indexes was been calculated using the results determined in the red series. The differential counting of leukocytes was carried out through extensions of blood without anticoagulant, stained, with fast panotic. For the determination of the number of platelet the Fonio method was used. The study carried through in this work, which aimed to show the comparison between the automatized and non automatized methodologies, did not presented significant differences in the number of erytrocytes, hematimetric indexes (MCV, MCH, MCHC), hemoglobin, leukocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes and monocytes, the only significant difference in values was of the platelet. According to the results obtained, the automatized method was considered the most accurate for the platelets. And still for this variable, it is suggested a comparison with other methodologies.
