摘要:
This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of squeeze dimpling as a fatigue crack retardation technique in 2024-T351 Al alloy under a constant amplitude loading regime. A comparison with results obtained employing the traditional Stop Drilled Hole retardation method (i.e, interference fit plugs - with and without cold expansion) is provided. An improvement in life - to - failure by a factor of at least 10 over that achieved by plain Stop Drilled Holes was observed.
