摘要
In this study, a high-power white light-emitting diode (LED) array for illumination is realized and investigated. Since the brightness and life-span of an LED depend markedly on its thermal design and the stability of its power, some issues that govern the structure of the heat dissipation components and the power supply circuit are initially discussed. TracePro optical analysis and CFdesign thermal analytic software are adopted to analyze the effects of temperature and the heat dissipation module on the LEDs. Optical measurements of the constructed LED array reveal that such an array can be applied for lighting. A comparison of this array with other traditional lighting sources, such as high-pressure sodium lamps and mercury lamps, demonstrates that the luminescent efficiency of the designed LED array lamp is high. Furthermore, the results concerning energy consumption reveal that an LED lamp that is formed from such an array consumes very little energy.
