摘要：

In this paper, a rapid segmentation method of vehicle license plate based on knowledge is presented. Based upon the image segmentation, the location accuracy and the real time ability are improved by scanning the acquired binary image in the row and the column directions, and besides, the location information as well as the size information of vehicle license plate is taken advantage of to reduce the area of being detected. We have made a series of experiments on different distance and different kinds of vehicle images. The experiment results show that the proposed method has good ability of locating and robust.
