The effects of particle concentration and various fluxes on the flow of a fluid-solid suspension

摘要
We study the flow of a fluid-solid mixture as a non-linear complex fluid. We suggest a new flux term for representing the particle compactness and motion. This flux term becomes important as the local particle concentration approaches the maximum packing value. We then study a representative problem, namely flow in a pipe, with various flow conditions. From the simulation results, we observe that the new proposed flux term can limit (constrain) the particle concentration to be less than the critical volume fraction. Published by Elsevier Inc.
