Some thoughts on the design of a road tunnel ventilation system for a fire

摘要：
The requirements of fire ventilation systems for road tunnels depend on the tunnel length, the traffic volume and whether the traffic is uni-or bi-directional. Different aspects that must be considered in the layout of tunnel ventilation systems are presented and discussed. The implications of adopting different types of ventilation systems are described together with their advantages and disadvantages and the best type of ventilation system for each design case is suggested.
