摘要
The potential for applying luminescence thermometry techniques to two candidate materials for environmental barrier coatings, Y2SiO5 and Y2Si2O7, is investigated. The high temperature luminescence of Eu3+ doped Y2SiO5 and Y2Si2O7 is measured to assess the capability of thermometry based on the decay lifetimes of the rare-earth ions after pulsed laser excitation. The resulting decay profiles and their evolution with temperature are discussed as well as approaches to fitting of the profiles to yield precise, reproducible lifetime values.
