Fabric of undisturbed and compacted volcanic soil estimated from MIP

摘要
The paper addresses MIP study for characterization of particle structure of a volcanic soil, which was sampled in Gunma prefecture, Japan. Emphasis is on dehydration effects on the porosity, efficiency of the two successive intrusion, soil fabric change due to decrease of water saturation and difference of the structure between undisturbed and compacted soils. The study concludes that the compaction destroys the aggregation of the soil with decrease of water saturation, and the undisturbed sample shows a small value of the specific surface area in the entrapped pores rather than the compacted. All these results agree with the change of volumetric rate of the porosity with less than 0.1 mu m radius which is formed among the aggregations.
