The Effect of Irrigation on Some Fruit Characteristics in Pistachio

In this research it was aimed to determine the effects of irrigation on some features of pistachio fruits. This research was carried out on the fruits of Siirt, Ohadi and Uzun cultivars located in the irrigated and non-irrigated pistachio orchards of Gaziantep Pistachio Research Institute. The colour, fruit size, fruit weight, split percentage and split range values were determined in shelled and unshelled fruits of pistachio cultivars grown in irrigated and non-irrigated orchards. Although varying according to cultivars, the colours of shelled and unshelled fruits, split percentage and range of pistachio fruits grown under irrigated and non-irrigated conditions did not change significantly while irrigation increased fruit size and weight. Cultivar features were evident both under irrigated and non-irrigated conditions, however, differences between cultivars were more pronounced under non-irrigated conditions. The differences between cultivars grown in irrigated orchards was not as significant as in non-irrigated conditions.
