Polymer adsorption on fluctuating surfaces

We investigate the adsorption of semi-dilute polymer solutions on fluctuating surfaces by means of a Langevin simulation of the de Gennes-Ginzburg-Landau free energy functional. Our numerical results show that the adsorbed polymers lead to a general stiffness of the surface as characterized by an increase of the surface tension. However, we found that the bending rigidity decreases with increasing the adsorption strength. Our results are further explained by a mean-field argument of the de Gennes-Ginzburg-Landau model.
