摘要
One of the major complications in diabetes is impaired wound healing. Diabetes causes impairment in the production of body or insulin sensitivity. Factors like nrf2 are responsible for wound formation in diabetics, which regulates the expression of phase2 detoxifying enzyme and antioxidant genes. Levels of cytokines are regulated by glucose levels in humans. It has been postulated that type 2 diabetes mellitus represent a disease of innate immune system responsible for ongoing cytokine mediated acute phase response.Diabetes is associated with poor outcomes following acute vascular occlusive events (delayed re-epithelialization). Role of oxidative stress in diabetic bone marrow derived angiogenic cell (BMAC) dysfunction and reactive oxygen species determined by flow cytometry. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidantactivity shown by HO-1. The protecting effects of HO-1 related to granulation tissue maturation in the wounds of diabetic patients. TSP-2, a multicellular protein with a demonstrated role in response to injury was associated with delayed wound healing in diabetes. Many species of plants and herbs with wound healing activities have been identified in Africa and other developing countries.
