EDS analysis of hydroxylapatite film/porous titanium implant-bone interface

摘要
Hydroxyapatite(HA) film/porous titanium implant has excellent biocompatibility and tissue bioactivity due to hydroxyapatite's similar chemical and crystallographic structure to natural bone, and has ideal interface for bone growth because of its porous structure.In the present study, Both HA film/porous titanium implant and pure porous titanium implant were implanted transversely into the femoral condyles of the adult New Zealand white rabbits.The EDS and SEM were employed to investigate the fracture surface of the pushed-out implants and the composition of newborn tissues.A comparison was made at the fractured implant-bone interfaces between pure porous titanium implant and HA film/porous titanium implant after postoperative period of 13 weeks. A fiber medial layer was found between the pure porous titanium implant and newborn bone,while a denser tissue layer formed at the HA film/porous titanium implants-bone inteface. The EDS results approved that there were great differences in the calcification degree of newborn bones.
