Success criterea and factors for component-based informatron system development

Based on an extensive literature survey combined with the results of a field research in Xi'an Hi-Tech industries development zone, success criteria and factors for component-based information system development are discussed and a theoretical analysis framework is presented based on qualitative data analysis. Within the framework, success criteria are suggested as six dimensions-time, cost, user requirements, quality levels,reuse assets,and learning effects. Thirty-five success factors are grouped with six major categories-organizational, project-level, technical, human, engineering, and COTS specific factors. The further analysis for each factor is done and a list of success factors is drawn up.
