Rubus in warm temperate and sub-tropical conditions: Production systems and genetic potential for new cultivars

摘要
Rubus fruits have been undergoing a revival over recent years, especially in Europe, North America and Australia. Production systems have been developed for supplying fruit out of season from warm temperate and sub-tropical regions and medium and low chill cultivars have been adopted for production in these regions. New cultivars are being developed that incorporate the genetic potential of low chill species and provide new opportunities to produce commercial crops of blackberries, raspberries and other Rubus fruits in warm climates. Traits of particular value for production in warm climates include low chill adaptation and primocane fruiting in blackberries and raspberries and perennial growth as in the Keriberry.
