摘要
Tensile properties of 12 yams spun of nominal count of 19,5 tex, spun from Egyptian Giza 75 FG, Sudanese "XG5B" as well as Turkish white 1 st class cottons, using the classical combing procedure with 2 drawing passages after combing, were investigated. From each of cottons were spun 4 yams with tex twist factors (alpha(tex) of 2690, 3160, 3630 as well as 4110. The major tensile properties primarily depend on twist factor as well as kind of cottons which from the yams were spun. There is no statistically significant difference in yam breaking tenacity spun with twist factors of 3630 and 4110 at the same kind of cotton. The optimum twist factor obtained was close to 4110. Higher increase in work done to rupture was obtained in yams spun from finer and longer cotton fibres. The utilization of cotton breaking tenacity in yam ranged from 22,7 to 41,2%.
