The breast: Benign and malignant diseases

A number of factors (demographic, anthropometric, dietary, menstrual, reproduction, hormonal, genetic and others)(1) has been associated with an increased risk for breast cancer. Even if what is known so far cannot safe from cancer and, then, primary prevention of the disease is not yet possible, the early diagnosis is the only possible procedure to follow. The aim of my study was to evaluate whether breast cancer may be the final expression of a variety of metabolic and neuroendocrine perturbations caused by an inflammatory chronic bowel disease as a colitis due to alimentary intolerance or allergy. This might be the origin of a breast cancer in genetically predisposed individuals and, then, the diet of tolerated foods can be the primary prevention for breast cancer.
