摘要
This paper focuses on an experimental study of how the cutting conditions affect tool edge wear (i.e., the wear of a tool cutting edge before it is fully worn away) in high-speed machining of an advanced titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V. The results show that tool edge wear is a dynamic process and increases with increasing cutting speed or with increasing feed rate. Depending on the cutting conditions, the dominated pattern of tool wear can gradually shift from tool edge wear to the tool crater wear, or to the tool flank wear.
