2-D FEM simulation and grid method were used to study the flow pattern during the processing of ultra-fine grained (UFG) copper billets 18 mm in diameter by equal channel angular processing (ECAP) in parallel channels. The results of 2-D FEM simulation, which enabled to process more homogeneous flow pattern material, allowed to determine the most optimal geometry of forming channels and fabricate the die-set for ECAP in parallel channels. UFG billets of copper and conventional-purity Ti by ECAP in parallel channels with the relationship between initial length and diameter equal to 2 and more was obtained and investigated.
