摘要
This paper proposes a novel beam domain peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme, named idle beam exploitation (IBE), in multi-beam systems, i.e., massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) downlink based on angle division multiple access (ADMA) here. To some extent, PAPR consideration in multi-beam systems is similar to that in multi-carrier systems, and PAPR reduction methods in multi-beam systems can be inspired by that in multi-carrier systems. The proposed IBE scheme exploits the structure of ADMA-based massive MIMO downlink or beam domain resource of the system. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is able to obtain good PAPR reduction performance. Even in the case that the increment of transmit power is constrained to 0.5dB, IBE scheme still achieves more than 3dB PAPR reduction when the complementary cumulative distribution function of PAPR is set to 0.001, only with acceptable loss of symbol error rate performance.
