A High-precision and Low-complexity Timing Synchronization Algorithm for OFDM Systems

摘要
Most of typical high-precision timing synchronization algorithms for OFDM systems come along with a high complexity. As the amount of carriers in OFDM systems increases, these algorithms are too complicated to work. To achieve low complexity and high precision, we firstly propose a new algorithm based on energy difference of training sequence. The complexity of this new algorithm is in the order of O(N), where N is the amount of carriers in OFDM systems. Meanwhile, this new algorithm has an ability to fully remove the timing offset at a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Furthermore, by integrating this new algorithm with Park algorithm, we propose another new algorithm to improve timing synchronization precision at a low SNR, with the complexity in the order of O(N-1.5).
