摘要
Advanced High Strength Steels AHSS are widely applied in Automotive Industry, mainly in the Body in White (BIW) parts of the car. These steels are in permanent evolution, being fundamental that industry stamping processes follow this progress. It is of great importance to fully address the different mechanical behavior and specific characteristics, that most influence the stamping process of these steels, against traditional mild steels. Dual Phase (DP) parts produced by stamping process present specific types of defects during manufacturing, namely the Edge Crack defect. During manufacturing of these parts, is not uncommon, the sudden appearance of edge crack defect, without a clear answer if the root cause of the problem is the material or the process itself Thus, this paper aims to relate edge crack defect to local formability analysis, mechanical characteristics of the material and Hole Expansion Ratio (HER). HER comparison between real and simulated values, showed to be a valuable method to perform a local formability study in a Dual Phase steel stamping process, preventing unexpected defects by numerical simulation software.
