An approximate analytic solution to the modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation: effects of ionic size

摘要
A simple algorithm is presented for solving the modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation for the electric potential around a planar charged surface in contact with an electrolyte solution, which takes into account the effects of ionic size on the basis of ionic activity coefficient given by Carnahan and Starling (J Chem Phys (1969) 51: 635). An approximate analytic expression for the surface charge density/surface potential relationship is derived.
