CHILD PROTECTION DURING AN ARMED CONFLICT

Lacking physical and intellectual maturity, the child must enjoy protection in the purpose of harmonious development of his personality, ensuring material well-being and realizing rights that law recognizes for him. Child protection in case of armed conflict is imperious necessary given the fact that during such period, children represent the most vulnerable part of the population. Promotion of child's right in case of armed conflict imposes observing rules of the international humanitarian rights rules that apply in such situations whose mission is that to warrant child protection. This article has as purpose an analyze of the main child protection measures, in case of armed conflict. After a short introduction where are presented the notion of child and his recognized rights are discussed incident regulation in the matter of child protection in case of armed conflict, contained in the Convention concerning child's rights and in other international juridical instruments, as well as in the internal legislation of Romania.
