摘要
An optically biased Schottky diode frequency doubler has been fabricated and tested that shows an increase in conversion gain over unbiased variants under moderate and high illumination. The diode of the doubler is biased at the knee current by an optical bias that is a coupled photodiode instead of a conventional external bias by a power supply. This ensures the continuing operation of the diode under low radio frequency (RF) signal conditions and an operating point independent of incident RF power. The optically biased doubler can be used for developing noncontact harmonic transponders with improved radar cross section. (c) 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
