Spectrophotometric study of the photoinduced transformation of 4a,4c-dihydrodibenzophenanthrene to trans-1,2-di-(2-naphthyl)ethylene:: The proof of the one-photon mechanism by the method of singular decomposition
It is proved by the mathematical method of singular decomposition of absorption spectra of a solution containing a photostationary mixture of isomers of 1,2-di-(2-naphthyl)ethylene that upon irradiation of 4a,4b-dihydrodibenzophenanthrene into its long-wavelength absorption band, along with cis-isomer of 1,2-di(2-naphthyl)ethylene, trans-isomer is produced in the one-photon process. Quantum yields of the photoinduced opening of the cycle are measured for both channels of the reaction.
