摘要
The motion of ions in a gas under the action of a periodic asymmetric waveform of alternating polarity is theoretically analyzed based on a solution to the equation of continuity. Solutions to the transfer, equation describing the ion density distributions in the gas filling planar and cylindrical cavities are obtained. The possibility of ion focusing in the applied waveform is estimated The results of analysis can be used for the development of ion mobility increment spectrometers-devices capable of detecting microscopic amounts of explosives, drugs, and other dangerous substances.
