摘要
The inelastic neutron scattering spectra of glassy and crystalline toluene doped with 10% of benzene were measured with the three LAM spectrometers in KEK (Tsukuba, Japan). A broad excitation (boson peak) was found in the glassy sample in the energy region below 6 meV; the peak energy was 1.5-3 meV. Above this region, the density of states of the glassy sample was essentially the same as that of the crystalline sample. The quasielastic scattering due to the rotation of the methyl group was found both in the glassy and crystalline samples. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
