A Modified Timing Metric for Timing Synchronization in NC-OFDM System

摘要
In the classical method of timing synchronization in OFDM system, data on regular spaced subcarriers are transmitted. However, the concept of data transmission on regular spaced subcarriers does not fulfil the requirement of cognitive radio in achieving spectral holes free from interference from the primary users. So, Non Continuous OFDM is investigated for Cognitive Radio. Several synchronization schemes have been explored for OFDM system. However, these schemes are not suitable for NC OFDM system as it utilizes few deactivated sub carriers. In this letter a new timing synchronization scheme with modified timing metric is proposed for NC-OFDM suitable for cognitive radio system. The performance of the proposed timing synchronization scheme is compared with the traditional Park and Zhang schemes.
